Plein Air Painting

"Whispers of Green"

Oil on canvas, 2025

Created as part of a plein air painting project, where students painted outdoors using natural light as the main source. I focused on exploring color harmony and depth by keeping the background soft and the foreground more defined. Brighter tones were used in the front and darker hues in the back to enhance spatial depth, while varying brushstrokes conveyed the textures of water and foliage.

Color Pencil and graphite, 2023

Inspired by a memorable scene from Cars, where Lightning McQueen discovers Doc Hudson’s Piston Cup in the garage. Created primarily with colored pencils, with graphite used for the shadows to emphasize contrast and depth.

Direct Painting, 2025

Direct Painting

Oil on canvas, 2025

This project focuses on direct painting techniques to create a detailed still life. Students begin with an underdrawing and the wipeout method to establish values before applying color directly. Through careful observation of light, color, and contrast, the goal is to compose a dramatic and visually engaging painting built through direct application rather than transparent layers.

Study of Light - After Monet

Acrylic on canvas, 2024

A reproduction study inspired by Claude Monet. By observing his use of light and shadow, I explored how he captured depth and atmosphere, gaining a deeper understanding of his unique perception of light.

Charcoal, charcoal pencil, and graphite,  2024

Created with charcoal, charcoal pencil, and graphite. By emphasizing shadows, I aimed to clearly define the visible forms and muscle structure of the body. The strong contrast between light and dark enhances the sense of volume and presence in the figure.

Alla Prima

Oil on canvas, 2025

This project explores the alla prima technique—painting directly, wet into wet, to capture expressive brushstrokes that reveal the process of creation, as seen in the works of artists like Hals, Manet, Cassatt, Zorn, and Sargent.
